LSM9DS0 9-DoF IMU Sensor Chip
Description
Discontinued - you can grab Adafruit 9-DOF LSM9DS1 Breakout Board - STEMMA QT / Qwiic instead!
We found a few left over LSM9DS0 from when we stopped using this chip (we moved to the LSM9DS1) and figured with the chip shortage going on, perhaps some folks could use these for prototyping or very small runs. Once we're sold out we won't stock it anymore, and the part is no longer available!
Add motion, direction and orientation sensing to your electronic project with this all-in-one 9-DOF sensor. Inside the chip are three sensors, one is a classic 3-axis accelerometer, which can tell you which direction is down towards the Earth (by measuring gravity) or how fast the board is accelerating in 3D space. The other is a 3-axis magnetometer that can sense where the strongest magnetic force is coming from, generally used to detect magnetic north. The third is a 3-axis gyroscope that can measure spin and twist. By combining this data you can REALLY orient yourself.
The sensor has both I2C and SPI interfaces, please note it is sold as an individual chip with no support circuitry. You will need to solder it to a PCB which is not easy!
That said, once you do get it working, you can check out our Arduino library which should still work fine for this chip while you bring it up. Our PCB design is no longer manufactured but you can definitely use it to help your design bringup!
